Sacred Altar
Most of you may already know an altar is a place of focus, power, and communication with Spirit. An altar can be as simple or as elaborate as you are guided by your beliefs, current feeling, intuition, spiritual guidance or conscious self-inquiry and community work. If you have never worked with an altar before, below is a list of suggestions you may be inspired to choose from or which may spark other ideas.
Elements of fire, earth, water, air, metal. This may be represented symbolically or literally by candles, bowl of water, incense, feather, singing bowl, rocks, crystals, shells, herbs, smudges, flowers, seeds, coins.

You are invited to build a special Samhain ancestral altar with photographs and symbolic representations of your ancestors and lineage. Include objects that belonged to them or had meaning to them, or you. Place around this altar colorful creations and sweet offerings of gratitude and love for their spirits. You may continue to build and work with this ancestral altar throughout the nine moon journey in any way you feel called to work with your ancestors, or choose to menstruate this special Samhain altar in November and create a separate permanent ancestral altar in your home.

Crafts for meditation, psychospiritual journey work, embodiment and integration are suggested throughout the entire course. Shamanic crafting is a powerful practice that takes you in the feminine dimensions of intuitive feelings and birthing fields. A beautiful and healing experience with your creativity that imbues the item with healing power and deepens your perception in the making.

The crafting projects are suggestions only. Our philosophy is, as our womb awakening mentors have said time and time again, “there are no have-to’s”. You decide, to craft or not. Do as you feel called. In general on this journey, we will encourage you to lean into your edges and melt into any resistance you encounter along the way. There is always information in these places. Our practice is to listen deeply to the subatomic whispers of our ancestors, guides and inner knowing.
You can do this even if you do not choose to work with shamanic crafting. Or maybe you would prefer to sketch with a pencil, or use a paintbrush instead. Follow your intuitive knowing. If you are excited to give it a try, you will want to collect crafting items such as fabrics, wool, jewels, feathers, ribbons, sewing kit. Allow your Womb/Hara to choose these items. Use recycled materials, whatever calls to you and feels right. There is no right or wrong, In creative shamanic crafting you are weaving your sacred medicine and healing intention into the craft. |
Psychosocial Stages of Development for Phase I
Touchstones you may want to periodically keep in mind while you journey through the first three lunar cycles are these first three stages of development Erik Erikson defined in his theory of psychosocial development:
- In the first stage, from age 0-1 ½ years of age, we develop Trust as we are cared for. When this care is consistent, the virtue of Hope is developed in our psyche. The crisis we may face is the experience of mistrust or the loss of hope that someone will be there for us to meet our needs.
- The second stage of development from 1 ½ - 3 years is when we begin to develop our own Autonomy. As we gain mastery of our physical skills we learn to assert our beautiful Will. The wound here is developed when we are shamed for our intrinsic motivations, criticized and controlled to the point that we develop a lack of self-esteem and start to feel doubt in our abilities.
- In the third stage of our psychosocial development, from age 3-5 years, our Initiative is activated by the virtue of our soul Purpose in action. This is developed during play and social interaction as we learn to lead and make decisions in group situations with peers and/or adults. When we aren’t supported or mentored properly, when we are made to feel like “children should be seen and not heard”, we can experience a crisis of Guilt for taking up space with our powerful existence.

Placenta Pouch and Umbilical Cord
The suggested crafting meditation for Phase I of your Embodying Divinity journey is a lunar placenta pouch and umbilical cord.
The placenta exists to nourish the fetus with oxygen and nutrients and cleaning the baby's blood of waste during the 9 month gestation period. It is an amazing temporary organ that attaches itself to the wall of the uterus and connects to the baby via the umbilical cord. You may begin crafting your placenta pouch and umbilical cord during the First Lunar Cycle. Throughout Phase I, II and III, continue to create and add any items that you feel called to place inside the womb of your placenta pouch. Place your craft on your altar when you aren't meditating with it. |
At the end of the ninth lunar cycle you will ‘plant’ and release your placenta into Mother Earth’s Womb as you are born from the womb of Embodying Divinity. Tune into where you would like to bury your craft over the next three moon cycles.
What messages do your guides bring you?
As you weave in meditation with this crafting process throughout Phase I, tune into your inner watcher who observes and senses all that is connected to Spirit and Cosmic Womb consciousness. After each session of crafting, make notes about your journey and the insights that came to you. Don't filter what you perceived. Write down everything. Every symbol, sentence, word, thought, image, sound, sensation, feeling and memory that comes to you is important information. Even if you don't understand what you are perceiving yet, the meaning may become relevant and apparent in the days and months or even years ahead.
